This geography is about volcanoes and tsunamis. The requirement for this term was to create a newspaper report about the volcanic island of Krakatoa. We had to research everything about this extinct volcanic island then create a report about it. It took me 4 days to complete this assessment. It was a single project, so I did everything on my own and no one else had any input to my work. This piece of work is significant, because at that time, I wanted to be a newspaper reporter, so I put an extra amount of effort into this work. For the first time this year in geography, I received a high grade. I got 8 out of 8 and 8 out of 8. It is something developmental that helped me reach a new level in the subject and I have chosen this piece of work for my portfolio because it basically summarizes everything that I learnt into one assignment. This work has improved me as a learner in the MYP program because I am a better thinker and I am more knowledgeable as I learnt how to use my copybook to collect all of the key terms and use them to my advantage. It has helped me organize my time and work efficiently and it demonstrated that I am capable of doing research, so now I am more confident in my work. With the new knowledge and skills that I learnt from this project, I will use it everywhere inside and outside of school in every subject. This is moving me across the path of life because I know how to research and it is really important as we live in a digital world.
